Very keen Crown bowls player and won a number of prizes.
Active member of Darnall Wesleyan Methodist Church. In church choir.
Wilfred was sentenced to 9 months imprisonment in 1952 for helping someone to defraud English Steel Corporation where he worked on the weighbridge. Served his sentence in North Allerton Prison.
In March 1974 he was left a small legacy by Bob Whitehead's daughter Emily Hodgson.
Mary Alice Hill and Herbert Rubbins Whitehead were also beneficiaries and are Wilfred's 1st cousins as Bob + Arthur + Frede were brothers. (See papers in box). |
