: Can anyone put me in touch with relatives of "Ray" Hinchliffe, born Liverpool 10/6/1894, disappeared with the millionairess daughter of Lord Inchcape 13/3/1928 while attempting to fly the Atlantic from East to West.
: Ray was a WW1 fighter ace with 10 squadron Royal Naval Air Service and 210 squadron RAF. After the war he flew for KLM.
: I desperately need a photograph of Ray, preferably taken during WW1 for historical research that I have been carrying out on the squadrons he served with.
Mike,
I'm an italian gentleman. Three years ago, it happened that, during a visit to England on an old motorbike (Triumph), I entered a pub , situated on the road from Grantham to Lincoln.
Reading the story of that pub, I knew of the existence of Capt. Hinchliffe. The story told of his ghost appearing there, as that was a place where he used to go and eat, during his military service. It seem that he was a tall man, with a black bandage on one eye, as he had been wounded on a duel on his airplane.
This is all I can remember of him.
Regards
Bert
