There were some Sheffield Hinchliffes who were cutlers. My great great grandfather, Albert Hinchliffe (senior) and his son, also called Albert, arrived in the USA in 1904. Albert Junior(born 1880) married a cousin who I think was already here. I think the marriage must have taken plce sometime between 1904 and 1910. I believe they orginally settled in Orange County. I know Albert Junior had a family (two boys, I think) and there would now be quite an extensive family of granchildren, great grandchildren etc.

Albert (Junior) visited his home town of Sheffield, England in the early 1960s when he was in his 80s. He was a very spry and gentlemanly man. He corresponded with his neice, my grandmother, Nell for all his life. I would love to trace his family and could perhpas provide some family information on the Hinchliffes of Sheffield who remained in England and on Sheffield more generally.
